There’s nothing like a good wooden Christmas tree stand. The christmas tree stand in this project is sturdy, decorative, and can double as a pedestal for a potted plant year-round. Here’s what you’ll need for this inexpensive intermediate level build:

TOOLS

  • Jigsaw
  • Drill and Drill Bits
  • Clamps
  • Wood Chisel
  • Mallet
  • Combination Square
  • Sandpaper and Block (Opt.)

MATERIALS

  • 8 Eye Bolts – 3/8” x 5”
  • 8 T-Nuts – 3/8”
  • 4 Wood Pieces
  • -24” L x 8” W x ¾” T
  • Desired Finish (Opt.)

When taking on this DIY task, be sure to equip yourself with the proper safety gear. Throughout the video, we’ll alert you regarding when you should and should not use the safety gear.

STEP ONE

Mark cut lines. Mark the center point on two of your boards at twelve inches. Then, mark eight inches and eight and three fourths inches in from each end. Draw a line three inches from the top of the board at your eight inch and eight and three fourths inch marks. Mark the other two boards the same way with the center point at twelve inches marking eight inches and eight and three fourths inches in from each end. But, this time, draw a line five inches up from the bottom of the board.

STEP TWO

Make cuts. Cut the complete length of your lines with the jigsaw. Then, cut the profiles of each board. Hammer out the remaining grooves with a wood chisel.

STEP THREE

Make eye bolt holes. Note the center point on each board, marking, then drilling holes one and one fourth and three inches down from the top. When your holes are complete, hammer in new T nuts from the inside of each board.

STEP FOUR

Assemble pieces. Assemble the boards by inner locking them in the grooves with two like boards parallel to each other. Use a mallet to gently secure them in place. Thread your eye bolts halfway through each T nut. Once you’ve inserted your tree, adjust and tighten as needed.

Your build is complete.
