DAVE: Hi, this is Dave from Washington, DC. Thanks for taking my call.

I was watching your TV show, Leslie, and I was wondering if you had any ideas to bring my old cabinets back to life.

LESLIE: That’s a great question, Dave. You know, on While You Were Out, we get a lot of design problems where people are looking for quick and inexpensive fixes and kitchen cabinets are one of those. We’ve done some situations where we’ve stripped cabinets and whitewashed them. We’ve even restained them to their existing finish. What you can also do is decoupage some flowers, some wall coverings, or even some faux flowers and cover over it with plexiglass but you can even go ahead and paint over the entire cabinets in any way, whether it’s a solid finish or some sort of checkerboard. There’s so many options. If you want to just paint or restain, it’s really up to you but you can really bring them back to new life.

DAVE: Wow, those are great ideas. You might have just saved me the cost of a whole new kitchen.
