LESLIE: Next up, a siding question from Josh in Florida.
Josh, what’s happening?
JOSH: What the problem is, it’s actually a linoleum question. It started right in front of my refrigerator and we thought it was a stain and we can’t sweep it up. It’s obviously coming up under the linoleum. And then we’re having another spot where some siding was torn away during the storm and it’s coming in through our back door under our linoleum but it’s only – it’s just a discoloration. And I don’t know if that’s mold; I don’t know what it is and what I can do about it.
TOM: Where exactly is the discoloration? Near the door, you say?
JOSH: One spot is near our back door, real close to where one piece of siding was gone.
TOM: Right.
JOSH: But the first time it started was right in front of our refrigerator.
TOM: Do you happen to have a floor mat in either of those areas?
JOSH: We do now, to cover them up.
TOM: OK. (Leslie chuckles) The reason I say that is because very often you can get a reaction between the rubber floor mats and the linoleum or the vinyl itself that causes a discoloration. Can you clean it? Have you been able to scrub it in any way, shape, or form?
JOSH: You cannot touch those spots.
TOM: So I sense that it’s some sort of a reaction that you need to get to the bottom of.
JOSH: Ah. OK. So it’s not mold then?
TOM: Not likely. Not likely.
LESLIE: Because the bleach would get rid of that.
TOM: Yeah, exactly.
JOSH: OK.
TOM: OK?
JOSH: Alright, thank you.
TOM: Alright, thanks so much for calling us at 888-MONEY-PIT.
