We are installing new kitchen cabinets and porcelain tile flooring. Which goes on first? The flooring or the cabinets?
Just thinking if we ever wanted to change out tile if it’s underneath the cabinets.
Another question. Are large 18″ x 18″ porcelain tiles hard to level for amateurs? Or should we stick with the 12″ tiles?

Great question! The smart move is to install the floor first. Too many people in your position do the opposite and end up tiling-in the dishwasher. You don’t have to waste tile though, tiling all the way to the wall (you can use spacers to hold up the parts of the cabinets against the walls). As for the size, it doesn’t matter but the key is to have a very solid base under the tile. Otherwise, the tile will crack. The best base would be a mud floor but that is not a DIY project.
