LESLIE: Next up is John from Indiana who’s putting up some sheetrock and is looking for the proper order to do things.
John, tell us what you’re working on.
JOHN: Yes, I’d like to know if it’s easier to put the drywall up on a ceiling first or on the wall first.
TOM: That’s a great question. The best way to install it is on the ceiling first and the reason for that is gravity, John. If you put it on the ceiling first and then you put the wallboard up under it, the wallboard actually helps support those edges of the ceiling and that’s going to do a good job in making sure those don’t come apart and crack as time goes on. So ceilings first and walls second.
OK, John, thanks so much for calling us at 1-888-MONEY-PIT, 888-666-3974.
