We want to put dark grout on our floor between dark brown ceramic tile, except everyone's warning us that dark grout fades with time. What can we do to keep it from fading? Should we use an epoxy grout or add an additive to the grout before we use it. We don't want to have to seal it every year.
Our Answer
Dark brown grout gets darker from dirt, so it's unlikely that it will fade (or that any fading will be obvious) If anything, it will get darker. Whether you use epoxy or sand depends on the size of the gap between each tile. If it's a narrow space, it's easier to use epoxy grout. Wider widths require sand.
