The natural beauty and overall toughness of hardwood make it a fine flooring choice.  But even wood can have its soft spots. Hardwood floors are susceptible to chipping, gouging, and wear. If it is time for re-finishing, this doesn't necessarily mean sanding down to raw wood.  Using a floor buffer along with a sanding screen, you can remove just enough of the old finish to prepare for a fresh coat and a brand new shine.
