TOM: Hoping to stay warm and cozy in your home all winter long? Well your local rodent population wants to do exactly the same thing. Hi, I’m Tom Kraeutler.
LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit Home Improvement Minute.
TOM: Mice and rats aren’t just a nuisance. They pose serious health threats when they make their way into your home.
LESLIE: So to keep those rodents at bay, you want to eliminate possible rodent nesting sites. So keep your stacks of firewood, newspapers or cardboard boxes off of the ground where they’re easily accessible to those critters.
TOM: The entire perimeter of your home should be cleared of ground level storage both inside and out. And mice can squeeze through spaces as small as a finger, so search for and seal up any potential entrances.
LESLIE: Wash dirty dishes right away and clean your food spills and crumbs from your counters, floors and cabinets when it happens. Now don’t leave your pet food out overnight either. Your dog or cat’s dinner is a feast for those critters as well. I’m Leslie Segrete.
