Picking Perfect Paint
TOM: Painting is an affordable way to make a huge style splash, but with so many colors to choose from, diving in can be overwhelming. Here are tips for determining with perfect paint in any room. Hi, I’m Tom Kraeutler.
LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit home improvement minute.
TOM: There are a few proven ways to pick the perfect paint color for your space. First, track current trends. A color on the rise has years to go before looking dated.
LESLIE: If coordinating two or more colors is holding you up, go with opposite colors on the color wheel, or simplify things even more with different hues of the same color.
TOM: If you’re especially risk-adverse, paint architectural features rather than the walls themselves. Molding, mantles, built-in bookcases, arch doorways, and doors are all opportunities for color.
LESLIE: Before you bust out that roller, test a color by painting two coats in the shape of a large square. Let it dry and then feel it out for a few days before you commit. I’m Leslie Segrete.
