PVC floor tiles are a great way to protect your garage floor while giving it an updated look. They lay right over your existing floor, and because they’re interlocking, you don’t need any special tools or adhesives to install them. Here’s what you’ll need to take on this quick and easy DIY task:

TOOLS & MATERIALS

  • Tape Measure
  • Rubber Mallet
  • Utility Knife
  • Interlocking PVC Floor Tile
  • Table Saw (optional)
  • Miter Saw (optional)
  • Drill/Driver & Hold Saw (optional)
  • Jig Saw (optional)

When taking on this DIY task, be sure to equip yourself with the proper safety gear.

  • Throughout the video, we’ll alert you regarding when you should and should not use the safety gear.

STEP ONE

Plan Layout. Your garage floor should be as clean as possible for this project, so before getting started, clear the space completely and sweep the floor. Measure the floor area and plan your layout. Once you have your layout set, you’ll be able to calculate how much tile to order, and you can start installation.

STEP TWO

Install Tiles. Begin laying your tiles, starting in a corner closest to the garage door. Lock a few tiles together, using a rubber mallet to tap them into place. If necessary, mark and cut any tiles or tapered edge pieces with the miter saw. Continue installing your first row, cutting and adding tapered edge pieces as you work, until it’s complete.

STEP THREE

Trim Tabs. You may need to trim tabs when working around the edges of your garage. To do this, score each tab with a utility knife and break off.

STEP FOUR

Cut Tiles. You may need narrower strips for areas near the outside edges of your garage. If so, trim each tile with a miter or table saw, making sure to leave tabs that will interlock with full‑sized tiles in place. To work around holes and other obstructions, measure and cut tiles with a hole saw or jigsaw.

Once you’ve laid your last tile your installation is complete. Step back and admire your newly tiled garage floor.
