LESLIE: Next up, we’re taking a call from Clint In Alabama who wants to level his garage floor.
Clint, tell us about the garage.
CLINT: Yeah, one side of it – the side that’s closest to the house inside – it fell down about six inches. It leveled out about six inches down and I’m just trying to find out if it’d be better to have somebody pour concrete underneath it and bring it back up or just to cap it off and level it.
TOM: Wow. So it dropped six inches or it was poured at a slant?
CLINT: One side of it, the side closest to the inside of the house …
TOM: Right.
CLINT: … it sank down about six inches.
TOM: Well, you can use a floor leveling compound and try to fill that in and level it out.
LESLIE: Even for such a large area?
TOM: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Floor-leveling compounds are designed for the entire floor. They’re very often used when you want to put like a – like you have a really, say, a rough, maybe broken-up, cracked garage floor or a basement floor and you want to level it up to put tile down. Use a leveling compound for that. You control the consistency of it so that it trowels properly and you can actually get a perfectly-level floor. So that is something you might want to think about doing.
LESLIE: And that’s totally doable for yourself?
TOM: Absolutely.
CLINT: Alright, I appreciate it.
TOM: Thanks so much for calling us at 1-888-MONEY-PIT, 888-666-3974.
