TOM: You may keep medicine away from kids but what about household cleaners? They’re toxic, too, including one that’s causing more harm than the rest. Hi. I’m Tom Kraeutler.

TOM: Those bright-colored liquid laundry packets are supposed to make life easier but they’ve prompted more than 32,000 calls to poison control centers since 2012, probably because they resemble candy.
LESLIE: And it’s not just a matter of keeping them out of kids’ mouths. Liquid laundry packets dissolve very quickly. So, just by touching them, a child can end up with the toxic chemicals on their hands.
TOM: Keep these colorful toxins and other household cleaners locked away from the little ones the same way you would medicine.
LESLIE: And, finally, avoid confusion altogether by never storing cleaners in containers meant for juice or milk or even in spray bottles that are not clearly marked as a cleaning product. I’m Leslie Segrete.
