Cleaning Hardwood Floors

Don’t use water to clean hardwood floors, because wood and plain water just don’t mix. When cleaning hardwood floors, use a warm water and 5 percent vinegar solution. Wring the sponge or mop twice to avoid puddles or seepage.
For prefinished hardwood floors, clean and wax with products offered or recommended by the manufacturer so you don’t void any warranties. Either way, when cleaning hardwood floors, never slosh or over saturate any hardwood surface.
Generally, products like Murphy’s Oil Soap also work well, but remember not to oversaturate the floor. Using too much water to clean your hardwood floor can make the floor swell and damage it permanently.
