TOM: Whether you’re rebuilding, upgrading, or planning a new construction project, the extreme weather of the last few years should definitely push you towards choosing weather resistant home and building materials.
LESLIE: Yeah and a good place to start is your garage door. I mean it’s the biggest opening to any home and therefore your biggest threat when water rises or high winds hit. So you want to look for composite garage doors that won’t be damaged by water or steel doors with composite for added strength. Even stronger yet guys; hurricane proof doors are a good choice if your home is especially susceptible to these extreme conditions.
TOM: When choosing new windows or doors, look for those that meet the Miami-Dade code, which is the toughest standard in the country for storm resistance.
LESLIE: And for outdoor structures, composite or PVC materials like decking and stairs won’t rot, warp or twist providing a really solid foundation if severe weather strikes. I’m Leslie Segrete.
