The Modern home style has flat roofs and simple lines. It features casement windows that combine in long ribbons, aligning windows and doors for a clean look; and no grilles in windows or doors. Simple geometry, clean lines and the overt abandonment of architectural ornamentation characterize Modernism. The style deliberately embraced the notions of industrialism and machine-made products as a way to improve life through efficient and affordable construction. Elements of historic styles are generally absent.
