Find Out How Long Paint Lasts
LESLIE: Heading west to Utah. Judy, you’ve got The Money Pit. What can we help you with?
JUDY: How long does paint last if it hasn’t been opened?
TOM: Ah, good question. OK. And can we presume it hasn’t frozen either, Judy?
JUDY: No, it’s been inside.
TOM: Well, you know it can last many years.
JUDY: Oh, good. It’s been many years.
TOM: And I know this because I’ve saved paint for many years. (Leslie and Judy chuckle) Some people collect coins; I collect paint.
LESLIE: Yeah, as long as it hasn’t been frozen and it’s been in a conditioned space and you know that the molecular structure – it changes if it freezes. So if you’ve kept it room temperature, I say just give it a super good shake and if you’ve got more than one can of the same color, I would put all of it in like a five-gallon bucket, just to keep the consistency.
TOM: However, unlike coins, the longer you hold onto it, it does not get more value.
LESLIE: (chuckling) No.
JUDY: Ah. (chuckles) OK, great. Thank you so much.
TOM: You’re welcome. Thanks so much for calling us at 888-MONEY-PIT.
