Ceramic tile is a popular building material but grout can be difficult to maintain. Grout is porous which allows it to absorb liquids that can leave behind stains. To avoid this, use darker grouts whenever possible. For existing tile, clean grout thoroughly, and then apply grout sealers to keep stains from soaking in. Lastly, newer epoxy grouts can be used. Although more expensive and harder to apply, they resist staining and will keep your tile looking like new.
