Handy Prep Talk

When hiring a handyman, their unnecessary trips to the hardware store can waste time and cost you money. If you are paying by the hour, giving thorough information -- up front -- will prevent your Mr. Fix-it from wandering off and blowing your budget. Before you begin, meet with your handyman and lay out -- in detail -- what you need done, and list the materials needed. Get in writing who will provide these materials, and include a maximum time frame and cost for the completed job.
