Paint on Wallpaper

Stencil on Designs for a Papered Look

If you like the look of wallpaper but the thought of applying it is more than you can stand, there is another way to get that same look.  The look of wallpaper is easily re-created using paint and stencils.  With many stencil patterns available, finding a pattern that works for you is very simple.  Apply the stencil pattern using latex paint over a painted wall or even over plain or textural wallpaper.  Then use a stipple brush to apply your paint by stamping it over the stencil.  Be sure to clean the stencil between uses to avoid mistakes.  If you are going to apply the stencil to existing wallpaper be sure to test out the end results on a scrap piece first.  This application on a painted wall will allow you to paint right over it when you want to change the look, instead of ripping down wallpaper, which can be time consuming.  Let your creativity and imagination guide you and the new look will add another dimension to your space!
