Radio Show NewsMoney Pit Radio Show Gets Makeover“While You Were Out” television personality Leslie Segrete named co-hostINTERNATIONAL BUILDERS SHOW, ORLANDO, FL January 12, 2005 - The Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show announced today that Leslie Segrete will be joining how-to guru Tom Kraeutler as co-host of the highly successful show. Segrete is best known for her role as a decorator, designer, carpenter and seamstress on the home improvement television reality program “While You Were Out.” As the on-air talent for the hit TLC series, Segrete designs, builds and executes projects to please one unsuspecting spouse and millions of the show’s fans every single week. Before While You Were Out, her wide-ranging professional background included stints as the Art Director for the Rikki Lake Show and the Oxygen Network, as well as roles at Good Morning America and Giorgio Armani. “Hosting The Money Pit is an amazing opportunity for me. I love radio and this gives me the chance to share my enthusiasm for home improvement with an entirely new audience,” said Segrete. “Leslie is bright, talented, creative and already an inspiration to millions of how-to fans. She’s made huge contributions to her TV show and I know that our audience will just adore her personality and be inspired by her ideas,” said Money Pit host Tom Kraeutler. Segrete is a popular cast member on “While You Were Out,” which is produced by BBC Production USA and has filmed more than 125 episodes with her. “Leslie has so much bloody talent it downright scares me! Her skills are mind-boggling: for a start she’s consumed with creativity – everything she does has a creative twist; she’s a demon with fabric, can make absolutely anything she sets her mind to with dexterity and artfulness; she’s an accomplished carpenter, who can interpret designs and quickly and efficiently bring them to life; she brings a touch of magic to craft projects – she is, in effect, the absolute all-rounder. I know Leslie’s warmth, infectious sense of humor, and creativity will endear her to her new radio audience,” said Sara Kozak, Series Producer for the show. The Money Pit stands out among home improvement media. While home improvement television shows have proliferated in the last decade, home improvement radio has proved much tougher to crack. However, in the past year, The Money Pit added over 35 new affiliates and is now heard on 116 radio stations nationwide. In addition, the show is the only home improvement program to be carried by both XM and Sirius satellite radio networks. Michael Harrison, Editor and Publisher of Talkers Magazine, notes the program has done well in an increasingly competitive radio landscape. "The Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show continues to stand out not only as the leading program in its field, but as a prime example of just how successful a specialty show within the talk genre can be. Now, the addition of Leslie Segrete joining Tom Kraeutler as co-host really puts it over the top." Segrete will be introduced to The Money Pit’s audience during a remote broadcast of the show from the Grace Construction Products booth at the International Builder’s Show being held this week in Orlando, FL. The new team will begin on-air February 12, 2005. Segrete will replace home improvement trend expert Debby Robinson who will take a less active role in the show to spend more time with her public relations business. |
