Home Improvement Show Adds Stations In Chicago And San Francisco Markets

The Money Pit marks year-end with record audience growth

Dec 6, 2005 Money Pit News Bureau – New York, NY:   With the addition of top radio stations in Chicago and San Francisco to its network of 150 affiliates, the nationally-syndicated Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show will be wrapping up 2005 with the biggest growth year in the program’s history.
 
San Francisco’s KQKE-AM began airing the show this past Saturday from noon to 2pm and Chicago’s 50,000 watt WYLL-AM will launch the show December 17th. These newest affiliates join legendary radio stations like WJFK-FM in Washington, DC and the recently launched powerhouse KFNC-FM in Houston, who began airing the show earlier this year.  The program is also the only one of its kind to be carried by both XM and Sirius satellite radio.   Sirius also airs the show in Canada.

Hosted by Home improvement personalities Tom Kraeutler and Leslie Segrete, the show’s audience is among the most active home improvement enthusiasts.  “The Money Pit audience is far more active that the average homeowner,” says Fred Miller, President of Consumer Specialists, and Managing Director of the Home Improvement Research Institute (HIRI).  “Compared to homeowners nationally, our research indicated that Money Pit listeners were almost twice as likely to consider themselves total do-it-yourselfers and almost 5 times as likely to buy home improvement products once a month or more often.  This is a very valuable audience,” he said.

“Tom and Leslie are the real deal,” said Pat Fant, Market Manager for KFNC-FM in Houston, TX.  “They have the background to give real information on complicated questions."

Kraeutler and Segrete are radio's only he-and-she home improvement team.  Besides radio, they also share their advice through e-newsletters, columns, and TV. Kraeutler is a regular contributor to news television shows like CNN's Open House, and Segrete is the on-air talent for TLC's While You Were Out.  They also author a monthly remodeling column for House Beautiful Specials.
