Walk-out Basement Plumbing

My basement is a walk-out, so I don't think I need an up-flush toilet.  That being said, is it ok to connect straight into the existing stack?  Would it be necessary to build a small box on which to mount the toilet so I don't have to break any concrete?  Any other way to do it without a big demolition project?  I plan on having a licensed plumber do the actual job, but if I have more knowledge about it, my being a woman with a little more info will help keep him (or her) from assuming I'm open to being ripped off.  Any help is GREATLY appreciated.  Merry Christmas, by the way.
