Q:

Recently I added on to an existing deck.  The old deck is stained a dark brown.  The new deck is made of pressure treated lumber.  I was told I have to wait a year before staining the new deck.  It does not match at all, so I would like to change its appearance.  What can I do?

The best thing to do would be to remove the finish from the old portion of the deck and re-stain the entire deck with the same finish.  If you want some help with it, one of our sponsors - Flood - is running a contest right now to WIN a deck makeover: the Take it Easy Sweepstakes.  Get official rules and enter at www.flood.com.
