Q:
My well-meaning son put a preservative on my white bath tub tile. The preservative turned yellow when it dried. Is there anyway to clean it off without completely removing the grout and redoing it? I don't know what the preservative was, it was done years ago. I have been scraping it off the tiles themself since then. I am down to the grout now, but scraping is also removing grout.
Thanks, Nancy

Nancy,
Sounds like your grout is deeply stained and requires an abrasive. We recommend using a bleach mix with water (please be sure you have proper ventilation, wear safety goggles and a respirator mask), and agitate with a brush. To prevent further staining, use a water-based sealer after you have cleaned the grout. This will add a nice layer of protection and, later, all you will need is a water-based grout cleaner and brush to keep your grout clean.
Hope this helps!
