About 2 years ago my finished basement was completely destroyed after water leaked in during a week long rainstorm. After consulting with several professionals we decided our best (and least expensive option) was to have our yard completely re-landscaped and new gutters and downspouts installed. Fast forward to today and our basement is still dry, fortunately. We are currently experiencing steady rainfall, about 3 straight days, and I can't help but be worried that somehow water is going to seep into my basement again. I came across Tom's article regarding wet basements and was wondering if I should still be worried about flooding? Did we do enough with the regrading and new downspouts, or is there something more I need to do right away to prevent future floods? We do not currently have a sump pump or French drains.
