I am considering painting my kitchen cabinets. I friend told me it chips and gets dirty real easy after having been painted. Also, she said when cleaning them they just got sticky! How do I prevent that? I know cabinet makers use special paint. What kind of paint shoudl I use to get a good durable finish. I believe the cabinets have been refinished in the past. I think they were sanded down and a water based "varnish" put on them. Do I have to use a water based paint now? They do need to be sanded, as the previous "doer" did a horrible job.
