Many of you might wash your vehicles at home thinking you’re saving money--but in the long run, you’re probably not. The International Carwash Association has a program called WaterSavers. Car washes that participate in this program use far less water than at-home washing. They also use water that’s recycled or reclaimed and discharge it directly into the local water treatment facility, whereas washing your car at home can send soap and harmful chemicals into storm sewers and then into rivers and lakes.
