The Work Sharp™ WS3000 Wood Tool Sharpener:

The Work Sharp WS3000 power sharpening system is a complete air cooled, dry sharpening system that allows even novice woodworkers the ability to quickly, accurately and consistently sharpen and hone their hand tools to razor sharp results in only minutes.

The WS3000 combines a powerful 1/5 hp induction motor, a precise bevel angle sharpening port and a wide grit selection of easily replaceable 6” PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) abrasives to quickly and consistently provide you with razor sharp tools. No complicated jig set up time allows you to focus on your woodworking, not sharpening.

The WS3000 uses 6”x 3/8” tempered glass wheels, which provide an incredibly flat and stable surface for adhering the PSA abrasives to. The WS3000 offers a gear reduced maximum wheel speed of 580 RPM by using a maintenance free timing belt, not a vee belt so it never needs re-tensioning or replacement.

Work Sharp’s innovative, patent pending sharpening port sharpens the bevel of your tools on the bottom surface of the wheel. This innovative design allows for precise and repeatable bevel angles without any set up time. The precision sharpening port is easy to set and has completely repeatable bevel angles of 20°, 25°, 30° and 35° for chisels and plane irons up to 2” wide. This also allows you to sharpen precise and repeatable 5° micro bevels on your tools for even faster sharpening and honing. The sharpening port includes a heat sink and routed air flow to keep tools from over heating during sharpening and also has a P400 ceramic abrasive to lap the back of the tool during sharpening. This back lapping process happens simultaneously during sharpening and increases burr removal and speeds the sharpening process. The sharpening port also has an alignment  fence and skew cam adjustment to ensure the chisel or plane iron is perfectly square during sharpening, which produces a consistently square bevel edge on your tools.

The WS3000 sharpening system offers precise sharpening of carving and lathe tools by using a slotted ‘see through’ wheel and specially designed slotted abrasives. This innovative approach to sharpening your tools allows you to see the cutting edge as you sharpen! Now you can precisely and consistently shape, sharpen and hone your carving and lathe tools with ease. The WS3000 comes complete with a slotted ‘see through’ wheel and special slotted premium abrasives of P80, P400 and P1200 grits. Available separately is a Micro-Mesh™ 6000 slotted abrasive (equivalent to 2 µ micron) for honing carving tools to a mirror polish with the ability to see the cutting edge as you hone!

Work Sharp additionally offers you a third sharpening method by providing a top tool rest to freehand larger tools on the top side of the grinding wheel surface. This offers increased safety and control while sharpening large or irregular tools. It also makes for a great general purpose grinding surface of a wide array of materials including metal and wood.
