Dimmers are a great option for saving energy.  The founder of Lutron Electronics invented the dimmer in 1961 and the company has been leading the way ever since.  Lutron's new CFL Dimmer for dimmable CFL and LED bulbs have trademarked technology to work with energy efficient light sources.  These dimmers can also be used for halogen and incandescent bulbs.  You may get a flicker with traditional dimmers when using CFLs and LEDs, but not with the Lutron C-L dimmer.  A new design called the Skylark Contour, available at The Home Depot, features a rocker switch that turns the lights on and off, and an easy-to-use slide control that adjusts the light for any activity.
